Do They Sell Damaged Cars In Car Auctions?

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Sure they do. Car auctions sell all types of cars, from luxurious vehicle to total junk cars. They don’t say in vain that someone’s junk is other’s treasure. Some take junks and turn then into gold, by totally re-facing they aspect and mechanical systems. Others simply don’t have a lot of money and want a car for driving around, and can’t afford more than a damaged car.

Due to the increase demand on the damaged cars market, auction officials started organizing events in witch only these cars get presented. The damaged car auctions occur pretty often, because not all cars sell so quickly and many people prefer selling a damaged car rather than repairing it. They try to sell the cars in such auctions and then get a new car.

It’s quite obvious that damaged cars are sold for very little, and sometimes they can be really good cars, that require some repairing but were initially expensive cars. Fixing a scooter for your kid is easy, but you likely won’t find a cheap Razor Powerwing scooter in these actions.

The low prices should not be the only reason behind your buying decision. Just make sure you are positive you know what you’re getting yourself into. If you have mechanical skills, that’s a good enough reason. Being a car salesman is also a pretty good reason. But for people that want cars to drive them around, what can a damaged can give them? You are the one that can decide that, by answering the question and thinking over the decision.

Evaluate the vehicles you intend to bid on before. Check any visible defects, and also ask the owner to open the car so you can inspect the interior. Check the exterior, the lights, the engine and also enter the car if possible. You should try to enter the vehicle after checking the exterior parts. If a heavy smell can be felt, if rust and uncomfortable chairs are present, know that these can be caused by water therefore that is a car damaged by floods. Flood damaged cars are severely affected by water, and might fall apart on you some day when you least expect it. Malfunctioning engines should be looked at by experts, like mechanics or engineers. Or you could properly inform yourself about common engine problems and try to evaluate them yourself.

Formula D

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

A lot of people have never even heard of Formula D or Formula Drifting, which gives a far better clue of what this motor sport is really all about. In deed, like all competitive motor sports it takes a great deal of skill, because the cars concerned can be anything from 200 to 600 bhp.

The objective is to manage your car while it slides sideways through a pre-set course in style. The more style the better, speed is secondary.

In a way, Formula D takes all the spectacle out of other racing and packages them into one competition. The US drifting scene takes the excitement a stage further though. They play two vehicles off against each other at the same time.

This makes it a great deal easier to evaluate the abilities of the drivers and makes for some really exhilarating close driving – often the drivers’ vehicles are no more than inches apart.

This is electrifying stuff as the drivers control their cars through incredible skids that would leave many drivers shaking. The nearest most drivers come to anywhere near this level of sliding is once a year on ice.

The sport of drifting actually began in Japan in the mid Nineties, but the drivers are now household names and the sport is crossing continents. In fact, there are fans of drifting all over the world, in spite of the fact that Formula D still gets relatively small coverage. There are now recognized amateur drifting meetings in the US, Australia and Europe.

You could in fact say that Drifting was an alternative sport until about 2003, when top Japanese professional drivers were brought to the United States for the first time to contend with local drivers en masse.

If you know of Formula D or would like to, please look up their website, because it is one of the few means along with watching it on TV that you can demonstrate that you support this exciting and relatively new motor sport, so that it will be able to stay afloat amid the harsh competition from more entrenched motor sports such as Formula One, NASCAR and Indy.

You can show your support as stated above, but you could also talk to your friends about it. Unfortunately, as yet, there are not a lot of venues where you can see live Formula D events, but some of the few are in California, Washington, Illinois and Georgia. If you can get along to one of these live competitions, then you are certain not to be disappointed.

Tips On Finding An Affordable Car Rental Without Days And Days Of Research

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

Many spend hours, upon hours, searching the web for the best rate on a car rental. This, however, is not necessary, and finding a great rental rate is actually pretty simple. That is, as long as you follow that advice that follows.

Your first step is to know the area that you are wanting to rent your vehicle from. Whether you are renting while at home, or renting once you reach your vacation destination, you should be aware of all the agencies that offer car rentals in the area you are planning to pick up your vehicle.

If you are renting your vehicle once you arrive at your destination, you should try to avoid rental agencies that are placed within an airport. Although these agencies may be more convenient for you, especially if you are flying in to your destination, they often charge you more because of this convince. What many don’t realize is that there are usually shuttles that will take you to various rental agencies, around the area, so you can rent from outside the airport, even if you do not have a car when you initially land.

Once you have found some rental agencies contact each of them and find out not only their base rate but also how much the total rental will cost you with taxes and other surcharges. Remember that you will want to ask for unlimited mileage as this will usually provide you with the best deal. If the company can not offer you unlimited mileage then you need to find out not only how many miles they will allot you but you must also find out how much they will charge you per mile over that set amount.

These charges may still make this type of rental cost less but usually only in cases where the allotted mileage is close to the amount of miles you will need. This really can be costly if the amount of mileage that you are allotted is no where near the amount of miles you will need for your holiday travel.

The Allure of Vintage Ford Automobiles

Friday, May 14th, 2010

Ford automobiles have constantly been linked with American pride and tradition. One of the biggest automobile manufacturers today, the Ford brand is understood all over the world and has been attached with a tag of sturdiness and quality. These are the same qualities it has saved through the years and more than a century after the brand had been unveiled, a number of its cars from its early and mid productions still ply American streets, if not, vintage auto shows.

This doesn’t suggest though that Ford just pumped out one car after another leaving quality behind. On the contrary, because they managed to produce autos at a fast rate, they managed to concentrate absolutely on their research and development which permitted them to come up with high standard autos.

This high quality has allowed a number of their cars from the post second world war era to still be street deserving today. Vintage Ford vehicles have countless commotion from Ford loyalists and though a full working and new-like condition is almost impossible to find, plenty still invest their time, cash and efforts in restoring them.

Some of the more favored vintage autos by Ford produced in the fifties and the sixties where the Fairlane, Thunderbird, Falcon, Galaxie, Torino, LTD and of course, the Mustang. Many of these make and models were harking back to the muscle vehicles that ruled the American auto industry and market in that era. Gigantic potent engines and loud roaring were typical of these muscle cars and they were distinctively American.

Owning and maintaining vintage Ford automobiles, like the Mustang, today will comprise some expense. This is because vintage Ford parts might be tough to come by. For some autos, the parts may be more easy to find due to the enormous number of their production. Because of this, parts may be lifted from the other autos with the same make and model and they can be employed to revive other autos.

This though takes time as you still need to go to junk yards. For a simpler time, you will just scour the web for these parts. Just ensure that you get the right ones.

You can never mess up with vintage Ford vehicles. They’re an American tradition and they can give you that certain distinction that makes people turn their heads to take a look at the automobiles. As an owner of a completely restored vintage Ford car, this will surely make you proud.

Drunk Driving Info From The NHTSA

Friday, May 14th, 2010

According to the recent figures from the NHTSA, driving while intoxicated mishaps, automobile or motor vehicle collisions, and car crashes due to drunk driving are a principal cause of death for persons from two to 33 years old.

30 % of all fatal drunk driving accidents or crashes throughout the year were alcohol-linked, in contrast to 53% on weekends. For all accidents, the alcohol participation amount was five percent during the week and 12 percent during the end of the week. The effect of alcohol involvement will increase with injury severeness. Alcohol-involved or driving while intoxicated accidents and wrecks made up 10 percent of property damage only crash costs, 21% of nonfatal injury incidents; and about 40% of fatal injury collision costs; more than three times as high at night as during the day.

For all crashes, the alcohol is more than 4 times as high at night.

Youthful individuals 21 to 24 years old were most likely to be drunk (BAC of 0.08 g/dl or greater) in drunk driving mishaps and fatal collisions in the year 2003. Thirty-two percent of people 21 to 24 years of age involved in dui and fatal crashes were intoxicated, then ages 25 to 34 and 35 to 44.

The intoxication rate (those over .08 BAC) for men engaged in fatal crashes was 25 percent, compared with 12 percent for female drivers.

For drunk driving accidents and fatal wrecks occurring from midnight to 3:00 AM, 77 percent involved alcohol in the year 2003. The next most dangerous time period for alcohol-related crash deaths were 9 PM to midnight, followed by 3 AM to 6 AM.

Those individuals over the age of 70 were least likely to be intoxicated (BAC of 0.08 g/dl or greater) in driving while intoxicated accidents and fatal crashes in 2003 – only five percent were intoxicated.

Based on these findings, there can be no doubt that dui is still very prevalent throughout our culture and certainly requires our attention.

If you are facing drunk driving charges, your best option is usually to consult with a local drunk driving lawyer near you. Discuss you situation with a local Collin County DWI lawyer today.
