The Most Delicious In The Category Of Underground Refreshments

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

I don’t mind admitting that I drink more soda than is good for me. Cola is the big one for me and yes, I’m addicted to it.

The thing is I don’t stop at cola; I like all beverages of all flavors and can’t wait to try anything new that comes onto the market. I love trying out obscure brands too, and have found a few firm favorites this way.

You know what really bugs the hell out of me? when the list of ingredients includes such things as corn syrup and high fructose. These have been processed so cannot be called natural ingredients.

I’m going to let you in on some of my favorite soda. These are lesser known brands which are every bit as delicious as the super brands but just don’t have the recognition.

If you are a root beer drinker, the best that I have tasted is manufactured by Virgil’s. This is a really delicious, refreshing drink and it had won numerous awards at festivals and competitions.

From the same manufacturer comes the wonderfully named and utterly delicious black cherry vanilla cream soda. This has a sublime flavor and so deserves to be better known than it is.

Remember what I said before about real sugar? Well it’ll come as no surprise that one of my favorites is Boylan’s sugar cane cola. This is a fabulous tasting cola made in a traditional style which I’m sure you’ll enjoy as much as I do.

Last but certainly not least are the delicious green tea infused drinks that Steaz make. The fruit flavors combine with the green tea to create a soda unlike anything you will have ever tasted before. There are so many varieties available that you are bound to find one that you like. Orange, lemon & lime, root beer and raspberry are just some of the flavors you should try.

The Good And Negatives Of Drinking Coffee

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

As you relax over a cup of coffee after lunch, you might sometimes ask yourself if it\’s doing you harm. If you\’re the worrying type, you might ask yourself that same question every day.

A great many of the world\’s population are coffee drinkers. The taste of coffee certainly grows on you over time but it has another big advantage, too. When we\’re feeling exhausted and nothing else can get us going, caffeine will come up trumps and give our energy levels a huge lift.

Studies have shown that a cup of coffee stimulates mental alertness and boosts focus and productivity. Those looking to enhance their performance with respect to work related tasks will generally benefit from a cup of coffee.

There\’s no mistaking the benefits of coffee on our mental abilities, but there\’s still some disagreement as to whether it has any physical advantages. There are those who say it can do you no harm, and those who insist you should give it up.

Some studies will show that coffee may in fact raise blood pressure levels over time. This, coupled with the fact that heart rates increase with caffeine consumption, worries many people.

On the other hand, these same studies point to the fact that mass consumption of coffee in heavy doses over long periods of time would be the only way to make this happen. If you\’re having just a cup a day or something to that effect, you have little reason to worry.

Then, of course, we have the beneficial effects of the antioxidants in coffee. Studies have shown that they offer a line of defense against the development of diseases such as cancer. This is not hard to believe when we consider that coffee is natural. The same qualities are also to be found in red wine, another natural product.

Of course, any powerful stimulant should be handled carefully, especially as we grow older. We just have to be careful not to overdo things where coffee is concerned. As the saying goes, moderation in all things and all things in moderation!
