Some Of The Grandest Baseball Stadiums In The World

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Exploring different baseball stadiums is a cool way for fans who love the game and also travel to be able to have the best of both worlds in one stop. Lots of stadiums are nestled into great downtown areas that allow fans to go to a game and then check out the local scene. This trend has gained in popularity in the last decade or so.

There are a lot of franchises that have developed their stadiums for this reason. Fans seem to be pretty happy with this set up, and the next time you are going to head out to a ball game, take into account that you may want to head out on the town after the game.

Look at Coors Field in Denver for example. It is a modern and popular stadium that is also in a great part of the country. When architects and developers designed the new stadium, downtown Denver was kind of run down. Once it opened, the areas surrounding the stadium underwent a renaissance and the whole area noticed significant improvement.

Once the stadium started having ball games, downtown Denver became a pretty popular destination for locals and for tourists. Stores and restaurants began to grow and thrive while the local breweries began to open their own pubs. Additionally, the most popular pedestrian mall in Denver is only four blocks from Coors Field.

Next, just take a look at AT&T Park in San Francisco. This attraction has become the home for the Giants since 2000. This part of town is very spirited and popular and has a wide selection of bars and restaurants along with museums and stores.

Some of the other attractions include the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Ferry Building farmers market. If you have never been to the Ferry Building market before, it is worth checking out on your next visit. There, you can find a wide variety of local produce, meat and cheese that is organic.

Finally, it is worth mentioning Safeco Field in Seattle Washington. The stadium is situated in the heart of the oldest neighborhood in the city, Pioneer Square. The Mariners play their games along some of Seattle’s best architecture and parks.

When you have the chance to catch the Mariners play a game, take time to explore the neighborhood. Walking in any direction around the stadium will give you a glimpse of the local culture and life of this great and cultured Seattle neighborhood.

The Greatest Neighborhoods To Shop In In Manhattan

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

When it comes to shopping, New York City is one of the best places to be. Not only can you find any store that may only have another location in Paris or Tokyo, but you have a ton of options of areas to go, making it a shopaholic’s paradise.

Here are some of the best areas to check out while shopping in New York.

The Meatpacking District is one of the hottest areas in the City right now. Alexander McQueen and the Theory Headquarters are both located here. The newly constructed highline product spans over the area and makes for a great scenic view as well.

No list of New York City shopping would be complete without mentioning the amazing area that is known as SoHo. Some of the best places down in SoHo include Inventory and the incredibly popular Opening Ceremony on Grand Street. If you have never been to Opening Ceremony and like high end shopping, it is a must.

Chelsea is another fun area to check out for clothing. The Urban Outfitters up there is fantastic, but the best thing to do is just go walk up and down 9th and 10th Avenue. You will see some interesting New York City culture while you’re at it.

Any native New Yorker would argue that the best shopping can be found on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. It is hard to argue with this, since the area boasts the world famous 5th Avenue.

If you are looking for a little bit of a culture shock, head down to Chinatown. You are still in New York City, but you would never know it. While the retail shopping is not the greatest down here, there is plenty of wholesale shopping to be had, as well as interesting art galleries to check out.

Well hopefully you have some new areas to throw in the repertoire next time you are in New York City and decide to do a little shopping.

How To Go On A Backpacking Holiday

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

The fact that airfares are becoming more and more affordable and accommodation rentals are available throughout the year in many tourist destinations, many people have found it easy to just go for short term holidays or do what is commonly referred to as backpacking.

You see why now you have no excuses when planning a vacation for you or for the whole family. There are low cost vacation rentals that allow you to visit literally any part of the world. This idea started when ardent tourists started with the need to be in a place where they would be as comfortable as being in their own homes, so some enterprising minds introduced what is now known as vacation rentals.

These rentals are cheaper for families and other large groups to stay in cheaper places as they enjoy tourist sites like everyone else who is on a tour. They will be able to see the same sites, be in the same events, and enjoy the same activities meant for other tourists. It all depends on how carefully you select your destination.

In some seasons these vacation rentals prove to be preferred by most people who see them as a chance to save on costs. To help you select the perfect accommodation, it is always recommended that you go through the reviews and comments of those who have been to those places and have something to say about them. These will be found on the internet as well as in tour magazines.

You will be able to have an idea of which places are suitable in terms of cleanliness, good services, amenities, rates and location. Care should be taken in order not to compromise the basic issues like cleanliness, maintenance and personal security; balancing it with the quest for cheap stay.

Making sure that your holiday is a success is important, so take time and do early bookings and plan it well, even the choice of destination. Once you are sure of the itinerary you will be able to have, you can now do early bookings.

Check all the details about rates, ones you have settled on visiting a particular site or destination. The next thing is to make reservations. This will save you the headache especially in the high seasons for tourists.

Lots of information is available online, or from many other sources, that will tell you about accommodation and types of amenities, location, rates and so on.
