Package Holiday Destinations Changing Due To The Euro

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

With the present economic climate it can be important that you pick a destination that offers superb value as this can save you a lot of money once you arrive at your location. Probably the most popular package deal vacation destinations has been Spain within the past but this might be changing as other locations offer great value for your budget.

Turkey is probably the most popular destination that has increased bookings due to the current exchange rate you get for the pound as Turkey is currently not in the Euro so you are often getting a lot more for your spending money here.

Needless to say hotels and apartments in Turkey have improved substantially over the years and all the major tour operators now regard Turkey as their greatest selling destinations , with family holidays as well as couples trying to discover luxury holidays.

Another region that has turned out to be really popular because the drop in the Euro exchange rate is Bulgaria that offers you some fantastic beach holidays and is also very cost effective compared to some other European places. Bulgaria is only a short flight from the UK so travel time zones aren’t an issue here and also the prices of food and drink are much less than other nicely established package holiday places.

Of course if you are still considering destinations such as Spain, Cyprus and Portugal you will find some cheap all inclusive holidays if you book online and secure early discounts and offers such as free child places. With all inclusive holidays you do not need to worry about the local currency exchange rate as all your food and drink is normally included in the price of your holiday.

Another location that is still offering great value for money is America as city breaks to Vegas, New York and Florida package holidays continue to do very well.

Check out the latest deals on Thomson Holidays 2011and also the free child places at Holidays 2011 offers.

Cheap Las Vegas Hotel Accommodations

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Las Vegas, like any touristy type city has their share of great deals at great prices. The great deals however are also limited to certain days of the week or month. This is not to say that Las Vegas isn’t a great place to be anytime. The lower rates are like many in many areas, available in low season when there are fewer visitors.

Low season in Las Vegas is typically during the week. Most hotels have a Tuesday thru Thursday, daily rate that is ridiculously low. If you’re interest is in enjoying one of the premier properties in Las Vegas, then consider the mid week getaway deals. During these mid week times, you can book and reserve a room in hotels like Treasure Island, Luxor, MGM Grand, Caesars Palace and many more top Las Vegas hotel destinations at a substantial discount.

Occupancy is what the hotel is looking to achieve so the more people going, the lower the daily rate. So check around and see what kind of deals can be found using local and web based travel agents. Some travel agents specialize in Las Vegas tours and act as consolidators, booking blocks of rooms and travel arrangements. Don’t let the word “tour” discourage you however. Tour in this case in nothing more than a designation of a group of people going to a common location. This is not like a sightseeing type of tour where someone will take a group around the city to see the sights. This is just a group of people who are traveling at the same time to the same destination city and usually staying at the same hotel accommodation.

If you’re looking to visit Vegas during the high season, which is Friday thru Sunday, the strategy to snag a cheap Las Vegas hotel needs to change a little. As always, it pays to plan ahead. Don’t go during a busy weekend when major conventions are in town. The rates are high and stay that way for everyone. Still, the way to lower hotel costs is your membership in other groups. The automobile club, American Association of Retired Persons, or even your employer may have discounted rates established at many of Las Vegas nicest resorts.

Another way to save big is to stay longer. That’s right, staying longer usually gets a better rate than a one or two night stay. Remember to always ask when booking. Las Vegas always have tourists coming and going. Although many 4 and 5 star hotels will have higher rates, remember to look for discount packages and stay awhile longer. These are your best bet to find the cheapest rates and the nicest places.

Choosing The Best Travel Accommodation

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

There are many things to consider when choosing your travel accommodations. The decision could make your trip fun or a disappointment. Choosing the right hotel is a must. Most travelers spend more time in airline ticket reservations and bargains but less time in choosing the right accommodations. Thus they may end up on the wrong side of the bed during their stay.

To get the most out of your hotel accommodations, remember to book as early as possible and make your dates more flexible. Hotels that specialize for business people will consider weekends as off season. Family vacationers could tap into these special packages during weekends. Primarily, you should choose your hotel based on name, amenities, features, price, packages and location.

Here are some considerations in choosing your best travel accommodations:

1. Accommodations should be family-friendly. Always ask if your hotel offers children activity areas with educational and fun activities supervised by duly-trained care-givers.

2. Your hotel should provide a swimming pool for children, daycare service, crib rental and child-proof electrical outlets.

3. Stay in a hotel that has electronic room-key cards and has a security viewer installed on their doors.

4. Make it a priority to choose a room on the upper floor.

5. If you’re the one who likes to spend more time in your hotel room and the balcony, you should ask for the available amenities and the conditions of the surrounding environment.

6. Depending on whether you’re on a private or business trip, ask your hotel about the availability of laundry service, hair dryers, coffee makers, newspapers, free meals, fax machine, bar, cable television, parking, shuttle service, internet connection, etc.

7. The hotel property layout and its location may speak more of its surrounding environment. Noisy locations such as construction on adjacent property, car traffic and noisy waterfalls are not specified on hotel flyers. So be sure to ask about it.

8. Beautifully landscaped surroundings with trees, flowers and inner courts also enhance your travel pleasure. Moreover, gift shops and restaurants all add up to a wonderful travel experience.

9. The location of your hotel with respect to main attraction is equally important. It could save you money on taxi and bus fare.

10. Make sure that the room service is provided 24 hours a day.

11. Check out the room itself. Is it brightly colored or classical? It sets the mood of your travel.

In order to get the most out of your travel, whether for business or family vacations, be sure to know everything about the hotel you are planning to check in to. Ask friends and relatives who have been there. Don’t just depend on the hotel’s webpage which is undoubtedly biased. Having to stay in a hotel which you don’t like could ruin your trip.

Choosing An Accommodation For Your Next Kauai Vacation

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

If you have chosen Kauai as your desired Hawaii vacation destination, you are way ahead of the game. Now you must decide between a condo, home or hotel room. This can be confusing without properly understanding the amenities each type of property has to offer.

First, let’s consider Kauai Condos. Here you will find more space than traditionally available than hotels, which can be important if you are a family traveling or if you simply value your privacy. These condos often have one or more bedrooms, living rooms, and full kitchens. With this type of arrangement you have more flexibility than afforded you with a hotel room, giving you the opportunity to prepare your own meals if you wish or simply relax in comfort.

Kauai Vacation Home Rentals are even bigger than condos, offering more space to spread out. This can also be an important advantage for traveling families who may find themselves cramped in hotels or even in condos. Many such home rentals also offer washer and dryer facilities, an important consideration for extended vacationers who do not wish to use Laundromat or dry cleaner facilities.

Honeymooners or couples traveling to the island for a romantic getaway will delight in the complete and utter privacy made available through a vacation home rental. Enjoy a completely private dinner by candlelight while watching the reflection of moonlight on the ocean, all from the privacy of your own oceanfront dining room.

Both of these types of accommodations are generally less expensive then hotels. In fact, many visitors are frequently surprised by the affordability offered by Kauai vacation home rentals. They are also great for families seeking additional privacy. This option is popular with multiple couples who can share rooms in these rentals to further cut expenses, as well as families who choose the island as an exotic backdrop for their next family reunion.

In addition, while many people may be attracted to the daily rates available at hotels and be turned off by mandatory weekly rates for some vacation rentals, it is important to note that this is not always the case. In fact, many properties available through Kauai vacation rentals are available with both very affordable daily rates as well as weekly rates. Not planning to stay an entire week? Book a condo, bungalow or home rental with a daily rate instead and take advantage of the numerous amenities available only through a vacation rental.

Beyond the affordability factor, vacation rentals present travelers with the freedom and comfort of home, all located in an atmosphere that is relaxing, beautiful and perhaps most importantly, private. Whether you’re looking for a beachfront villa, private oceanfront luxury home, ocean view resort condo or a quaint Kauai cottage or bungalow, you can take advantage of all the many amenities offered through Kauai vacation rentals.

Business travelers are not immune to the benefits offered through vacation home rentals, either. With the availability to conduct business and conferences in private along with private lanais for entertaining while enjoying sweeping ocean and mountain views, many business travelers feel this provides a perfect blend of amenities and privacy.

Kauai Hotels have more elaborate lobbies, grounds and pools. There are generally shops and restaurants in the hotel and they have daily maid service and a bellman to help with luggage.

One thing to note; however, is that Hotel facilities such as the Spa, golf and restaurants are available to everyone, even if you are not staying there. In addition, many condo and vacation home rentals are also available with similar amenities as hotels, including access to fabulous golf courses and spa services. Through arrangements with property managers you may also be able to schedule regular maid service for your vacation home rental as well, taking the worries and hassles of picking up after yourself while on vacation completely out of your hands. With the wide variety of restaurants available on the island, preparing meals in your vacation rental is truly an option you can either take advantage of, or if you wish you can instead try a delicious new restaurant each day of your stay.

Finally, an advantage many hotels cannot usually offer that is often available with vacation home rental is the availability of private beach access. When staying in a hotel you are at the mercy of public beach access; and while this is certainly fine for many vacationers, others prefer a more intimate and private atmosphere in which to enjoy the fantastic sunsets and ocean views. Kauai vacation home rentals provide this amenity, allowing you to truly relax in comfort and privacy.

Accommodation In Cornwall And Devon, Taking The Best River Cruises And Coastline Steam Train Rides

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

The good news is that no matter what your financial budget, you’ll almost certainly find a place to stay that suits it. Cornwall & Devon both have no end of lodgings for the holidaymaker – Here are some of your accommodation choices:

Luxury & standard hotels Bed & breakfasts (B&B) Holiday cottages Camping sites

Much will depend on where you wish to be based, and of course what your needs are.

Cornwall & Devon have many reasonably priced Bed & Breakfast lodgings – here, you get a comfortable room (often the home of the owners which offers a very nice homely feel) usually with an en-suite shower and standard amenities such as (basic) TV. A choice of breakfast (traditional English or continental) is included in the price of the room and some B&B’s offer dinner as an optional extra. This is great because the holiday-maker has the choice of exploring the town and sampling some of the local cuisine without having to be confined to the B&B at dinner-time.

For those in pursuit of luxury, there are a good choice of quality hotels available. Many of these offer excellent facilities (such as pools & gym) and depending on location may offer breath taking sea views. Expect plush interiors and satellite TV from the better hotels. Standard hotels (2 or 3 stars) are not as fancy and are similar to B&Bs in the standard of accommodation offered.

If you’re planning to stay for a week and have a family or group then you may wish to stay in a holiday cottage instead. Cornwall & Devon have a huge range of holiday cottages that can be rented (usually) for a week or more. You can rent a cottage in a peaceful countryside setting, a quiet fishing village or overlooking the sea – the choice is yours! Holiday cottages in Devon & Cornwall typically cost between 500 to 1,000 a week (depending on location & standard).

Finally, if you’re planning to hire a caravan & go camping, there are plenty of caravan & camp sites scattered all over Cornwall & Devon.

River Cruises Along The River Dart & Wildlife Cruises Along The Devon Coast

One of the most charming activities while visiting Cornwall & Devon is to take in a cruise along the River Dart. Typically the cruise will start from Dartmouth and end at the lovely town of Totnes. The River Dart is one of the most beautiful estuaries in Britain – and a cruise provides the holiday maker with an opportunity to drink in the rich tapestry of history, wildlife and pure scenic beauty all in one go.

For example, a pleasure cruise from Dartmouth to Totnes would allow the holidaymaker to see the following:

Village of Dittisham. The lovely, old cottages of Duncannon. Sir Walter Raleigh’s boat house. Dame Agatha Christie’s estate. Greenway Quay. Stoke Gabriel. Sharpham Vineyard.

Alternatively, you could also take a wildlife cruise where your tour boat sails along the immaculate Devon coast to catch breathtaking views of basking sharks, leathery turtles, falcons, bottlenosed dolphins, shearwaters, grey seals, and much more. This is a wonderful experience, although the tours only take place between May and July.

Great Steam Train Rides Across Torbay’s Beautiful Coastline

For one of the most scenic train rides to be found anywhere, try the Paignton to Kingswear (Dartmouth) rail journey. Your steam locomotive starts from Paignton Station and initially chugs past Paignton Sands and Quaywest Water Park.

The rail journey not only takes in the spectacular Torbay coastline but also runs through the wooded hills along the Dart Estuary. Initially, this most picturesque of British rail journeys goes up a steep and rocky hill offering some wonderful views of the Devon coastline. After going past Churston, the train runs inland and proceeds along the Dart Valley before reaching Kingswear. From here, passengers have the option of visiting Dartmouth via ferry.

It’s also possible to combine your rail journey with a pleasure cruise and coach ride and enjoy a fascinating journey that stretches out over the entire day.
