Practical Methods For Sleeping Well At Night

Friday, March 5th, 2010

One thing that really bugs me is when I\’m absolutely shattered, go to bed and then can\’t sleep! Then I don\’t want to get up in the morning and go through the entire next day on auto pilot. Here\’s a few things I tried to rectify this.

Turn off your TV or anything else that is causing you to think, such as a laptop etc. You may think that these will help you fall asleep but in fact they are keeping your mind active.

You may have a favourite show you watch in bed, the thing is that because you enjoy it so much you will be concentrating hard on it. Your brain needs to be able to sleep so that you can.

A great tip to stop lying awake is to read in bed. You don\’t want a juicy novel however; you want a text book that is mind numbingly boring. You will be reading the words but your brain just won\’t be interested and will just close itself down.

Another good one to try is to have an hour of punishing exercise sometime through the day. If you do this regularly you body gets used to a

The best exercise to promote sleep is cardio or resistance, you will get that initial buzz and be full of energy, but by night time your batteries will be empty and a deep slumber will follow.

If your wear glasses or contacts, remove these before getting into bed, rather than once you are in it. There are a couple of reasons for doing this.

If your eyesight is bad without your visual aids, there will be few distractions and secondly your eyes will relax quicker and want to close.

We all know deep down that eating at night is bad for us, but it isn\’t only the weight gain that\’s a problem. Our brains are very clever and make associations. If you have got into the habit of eating at night, your brain will refuse to shut down until you have eaten as it will be thinking about what to have tonight. Cut out the snacks and sleep will come quicker.

Besides sleep, the writer additionally regularly contributes articles regarding heavy duty decorative shelf brackets and glass shelf brackets.

A Fish Story, A Lesson From Life

Friday, February 26th, 2010

A Black Bear, Loon & Walleye: A Fable from the Northwoods a story by Sara Button holds a special place in our hearts. As Directors of Swift Nature Camp an Overnight Summer Camp in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, our campers can see this story unfolding right in front of their eyes. It is so special we keep a copy in our camp library for all to read.

Black Bear, Loon & Walleye tells the story of three friends–one furry, one feathered, one sporting fish scales–and each wishes for the gifts of another. Black Bear longs for shiny scales to look flashy and impress his friends; Loon wants to sport and enviable fur coat; and Walleye wants to fly. But when their wishes mysteriously come true, each realizes a disadvantage: Bear\’s scales can\’t keep him warm, Loon can\’t fly with fur weighing her down, and Walleye has bad eyesight and is no good at flying even with feathers.

Black Bear, Loon and Walleye take a wild adventure that teaches them lessons that are timeless universal truths. The friends learned a valuable lesson that day, to appreciate each others gifts, but most of all to value their own. Trying new things is important, because you might find something that you really enjoy. But if it doesn\’t work out, you still get to know yourself better. So each characters learned that they each have special gifts and that they need to always appreciate the other\’s gifts, while valuing their own.

This is a story for all generations and a reminder of the importance of trying new things, understanding our own true nature, and having faith that we are all perfectly designed to fulfill our own unique purposes in life. Know yourself well! Value your gifts!

At Summer Camp the opportunity arises daily to promote each child\’s personal development by providing fun, friendship and leadership in a supportive and noncompetitive environment away from home. Camp provides children an opportunity to act on their own, be self-reliant and try things for themselves. Camp provides few long lasting consequences, so children know that if it doesn\’t work out they can start over much like the stars of our book.

At night as our camp counselors are reading the campers hear the traditional call of the northwoods, the loon in the background. It truly makes it a special evening. If coming to the Northwoods is not as easy for you use the enclosed CD that has loon sounds along with a guitar background.

The Many Happy Hours Suspense Fiction Books Can Bring To Our Boring Lives.

Friday, February 5th, 2010

For book lovers suspense fiction books are in so many respects the ultimate choice to while away a few hours. To be quite honest: if you live somewhere in the suburbs of a big city, in a house with a garden, a cat and a lawn, your life might be perfect except for one thing: you won\’t experience much excitement during the course of the average day.

To sit down, put your feet up and read a good suspense story will immediately transfer you to a world far from the mundane life of the suburbs. A world of glitzy women, debonair men and high speed car races. A world where more happens during the average hour than you normally experience in a year.

Ever since the first spy story was published many years ago, it has been a favorite of readers of suspense stories all over the world. Although we can\’t all be members of the secret service and regularly save the the world from being destroyed by an evil genius, a good spy story let us be part of that world for a couple of hours. A further appeal of this type of book lies in the exotic sounding locations in which many of these stories take place. Places with names like Fez or Zanzibar, that conjures up images of sultans and harems and beautiful temptresses.

Another all-time favorite is the detective story. Although the action here is not at the same frenetic speed as in a spy story, the suspense could be even more intense. Once the scene has been set and the characters are all together somewhere in a remote location, the murder will happen. Of course every murder needs a detective: an eccentric chap with an affinity for beautiful women will do just fine. When it becomes known that the butler is a prime suspect, the table is set for a suspenseful time ahead…

The thriller offers suspense at a level that might be too much for many of us. This specialized type of suspense story offers the ultimate adrenalin rush. The villains here need not be human. They could be from beyond the grave, intent on revenging an injustice of years gone by. Sometimes they love the taste of human blood and often their eyes would glow in the dark. A really good writer of this kind of story will give you more sleepless nights than you ever bargained for.

A totally different type of suspense story is that dealing with an alien invasion. Creatures from far beyond our solar system visiting earth with only one thing on their minds: to destroy us. The fact that they very often look precisely like human beings makes things only more exciting, and can provide many suspenseful hours of reading.

It has been many decades since the first suspense fiction books were published. Ever since that day they\’ve kept millions of humans glued to their seats for countless hours. And they are likely to do so for many years to come.
