So what Vizio has done, is to literally take the idea of high definition and attempt to improve upon it. It might have taken them a bit of time to get it right, but they have a winning formula now.

Time Travels, Past and Future

Monday, April 26th, 2010

It’s funny that we desire to travel through time. Besides self-ish interest, what purpose would it serve? We are actually timetravelers all the time. Or should I say channel surfers?

We get carried away either by thinking about our past or piling up with dreams of the future. These two activities take most of our time. The actual now moment we are currently experiencing is something we would rather not like to have.

It’s far better and safer to sail in our dreams, where all the outcomes are already known and we can speculate with endless what-if scenarios.

The future is even better. For us it has not happened yet and, therefore, we can make it up any way we desire. Well, almost. The only limitation is that we cannot just dream about anything of which we have no knowledge.

For example, in medieval times people did not dream about having cars and flying around the world in airplanes. So dreaming is also quite boring. All the outcomes are predictable in one way or another-like LEGO blocks that can only be set up in a certain way based on their shapes.

Our channel surfing concerns the current living moment. We seldom stay in the channel. We’d rather jump on and off many times in a second. This happens by switching either to the dream or the history channel. Reality TV is something we prefer to consume as a recorded version, just to be on the safe side.

Still, all the action happens in the reality mode. We cannot change our history and cannot predict the future. We have to do all the things right now. The paradox is that the only unpredictable (and therefore nonboring) moment is the fresh now time, what we are all the time experiencing.

How To Enjoy TV On The Internet

Friday, April 9th, 2010

Today it can be very difficult for some people to afford their cable bills. Except for the most bare-bones basic cable package, television costs at least thirty dollars per month. If one instead watches TV on the internet then he or she can simply pay one bill for both cable and internet.

Television on the internet allows one to stream television online using their computer. Streaming can sometimes be slow, but it also allows one to enjoy television during “real time.” Internet shows also often do not feature as many commercials, which can make for a more enjoyable viewing experience.

There are lots of different websites and ways to watch TV on the computer. There are many different sites that have different types of services: some have only a few shows available while some have links to a large variety of shows.

Some websites do not actually showcase episodes on their pages; rather, they simply offer links to other sites that feature TV episodes. These “database” type sites allow people to search for their favorite shows to see where they can find them online. These do not actually play episodes, and instead act as a “middle man” for other sites.

Some television channels have official websites that feature episodes from their shows. Usually these sites feature shows the day after they are aired on traditional television. This allows the channels to keep internet users at a disadvantage, as they cannot watch their shows at the same time that others do. Also, usually only a few episodes are featured on the site at a time.

Other websites feature television shows but have a limited supply or charge a subscription fee. With these websites people can enjoy a wide variety of television episodes on their computers. They are probably more convenient than other sites, but they do have their disadvantages.

For watching TV online, the best computers feature large screens with decent speakers. Elongated screens are the best for watching episodes that are featured in High Definition. Thus, large desktop screens are the best for watching TV. If one has a couch near his or her computer they can enjoy watching the shows as if they were watching them in the traditional way.

Even though desktop screens are usually larger, laptops can also be used for watching TV. Gaming laptops usually have bigger screens that are good for watching TV. Any laptop with a large, elongated screen is preferable, however. At the same time, any laptop can be used for watching television series online.

Do You Need A TV Screen Protector?

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Screen protectors don’t come free with new TVs, but they aren’t that expensive either. Actually, compared to the cost of having to buy a new TV, they are positively cheap.

Many high end TV screens are made of glass. One hit on the glass and it will easily crack. A TV screen protector made of transparent plastic will protect the expensive TV’s glass from damage.

Whatever size your TV is, there will be a screen protector that fits it perfectly. It’s definitely worth taking the time to find one that’s the right size as a poorly matched one not only looks bad, it also reduces the level of protection provided.

Some people worry about the image quality of their televisions and feel that a protector will ruin it. This need not be a concern if the lights in the room are positioned such to prevent light from the rear of the viewing area to prevent glare on the plastic.

The best quality ones are made so that you can’t even tell that they are separate to the TV. The edges of the protector will match the color of your TV and the screen of the protector is optically clear. You’ve probably even watch a TV screen with a protector on it before and not even realized that it was there.

Occasional cleaning of it will be necessary, but will be needed less often than you’re currently having to wipe down your TV screen now. They’re also much easier to clean, as you don’t have to worry about what you spray on them or how hard you wipe.

Be aware that there are various cheaper TV screen protector options available in the market which claims to be the best option. But they have certain flaws which are really not acceptable. The biggest difference between the options is the thickness of the protector, if they do not state the thickness it is most likely a thin piece of plastic that does not offer the level of protection it should.

Michael Cunningham is the owner of a TV Screen Protector company called TV Armor, located at www.TV-Armor.com. Thousands of LCD TV screens are lost each day to accidental contact with the screen. Pick up a TV Screen Protector before it happens to you. Stop worrying about your TV and start enjoying it. Protect Your TV!

LCD TVs : How To Protect The Screen From Damage

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

It is hard to find a fault with the pictures that the new breed of TVs give us. They also look more stylish than their predecessors. Whereas as before a TV was a chunky, unsightly block of plastic, now it is sleek, super thin and compromised of not much more than a glass screen.

Along with the televisions themselves, we have also seen a flood of related technology which has made the experience of watching them more enjoyable. Having hundreds of channels is now standard and we can even pause live television.

It is indeed a golden time for technology, and we are always wondering what cool features will be thought up and brought out next. You probably have something in mind that you are particularly waiting for. For me, I cannot wait for 3D TV; how great will that be?!

With all these technological enhancements come some caveats as well. The same screens that bring you that crystal clear picture are also extremely fragile. Throwing your remote at the TV because your team lost, will make you even more upset later when you break the screen on your new television.

Unlike tube style TVs, LCD TVs can be cracked very easily. Do you have kids? Your television is also in danger from flying toys, Wii remotes, or pets. Maybe putting the nature channel on for Fido was not such a good idea! One tiny crack will ruin your television. Think you have a warranty. Think again! Most companies do not guarantee the TV’s screen, knowing how easily they break.

There is a way to significantly reduce the risk of your TV screen getting damaged, which is to use a TV screen protector. As simple as these pieces of equipment may look, a lot of thought and effort has gone into the design of them, with the result being an all in one protection solution.

A screen protector is basically a high grade acrylic screen, of about a quarter of an inch thickness, which attaches to the front of your TV screen. As the protector screen is specially made for this purpose, you can rest assured that it will not take anything away from the quality of the picture that you see.

Michael Cunningham owns TV Armor, a TV Screen Guard company located in Freehold, NJ. Thousands of LCD and LED TV screens are scratched or cracked each day to accidental contact with the screen. Pick up a LED TV Screen Protector before it happens to you. Protect Your TV!
